HERBS AND SPICES: 33 - Asian herbs

Common Asian Herbs



  • Bay leaves
  • Chiles
  • Cilantro
  • Coriander seeds
  • Curry powder
  • Five spice powder 



BASIC CHINESE FIVE SPICE

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.

1 teaspoon ground cloves.

1 teaspoon fennel seed, toasted and ground.

1 teaspoon ground star anise.


1 teaspoon szechuan peppercorns, toasted and ground.



  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Kaffir lime leaves (don't substitute; just leave out); you can buy kaffir lime leaves, powder, dried and flakes)
  • Lemongrass
  • Lime 
  • Mint
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Turmeric
