Perkins Square Restaurant Plans to Open in Former Salsa's Space in South Boston

A new restaurant may be on its way to South Boston, and it would be taking over the space where a Mexican eatery had been for nearly 20 years.

According to a licensing board page within the City of Boston website, Perkins Square Restaurant has applied for a liquor license to open in the former Salsa's space on Dorchester Street. The manager listed for the proposed spot is Michael Shaw, who is apparently the same Michael Shaw who is involved with Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant and Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar, and Capo (all of which are located nearby on W Broadway), so it is possible that this could be a fourth restaurant from that group--though this has not been confirmed as of yet.

Salsa's first opened in South Boston back in the late 1990s, while a second outlet of the place opened a decade later in Hingham (both locations closed in 2015).

The address for this upcoming dining spot in South Boston is: Perkins Square Restaurant, 118 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA, 02127.
