La Hacienda in Somerville Has Closed

One of the last of the old-school Somerville restaurants/bars has shut down.

According to a source, La Hacienda on Medford Street was apparently sold while it was shuttered for vacation last week, with a call placed to the dining and drinking spot this morning confirming that it has indeed closed, though the voicemail message says that the people behind it will be setting up a catering business in the near future. A few of our other sources had mentioned that the place was possibly looking to sell for awhile now, though it appeared to be only talk up until now.

La Hacienda first opened back in 1939 and was a popular spot for Italian-American food, including pizza and pasta dishes; our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) featured it as a place to go for its aforementioned thin-crust and bar pizza. The review can be found at the link below:

The address for this now-closed restaurant and bar in Somerville was: La Hacienda, 46 Medford Street, Somerville, MA, 02143.
