Yet another Boston-area restaurant is closing due to a rent increase, with the latest being a Mexican spot that has been in business for nearly 20 years.
Eater Boston is reporting that The Wapo Taco in Roslindale Village is shutting down later this month, with the owners saying (via a Facebook post) that "The building we are in, was recently sold. The new Landlords have doubled our rent. In order for us to stay, we would have to pass that on our customers, with a substantial price increase. We don't think that would be fair to all of you." The owners go on to thank their customers for their love and support, mentioning that the last day for the Poplar Street eatery will be Saturday, June 27.
The Wapo Taco first opened in 1997, offering such items as tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas. and wraps.
The address for this soon-to-close Mexican restaurant in Roslindale is: The Wapo Taco, 37 Poplar Street, Roslindale, MA, 02131.
