We are starting the third week, with a post on homemade Schezwan Sauce. The theme I chose this week is all about recreating Readily available products at home. So you have all those sauces, products that are ready to eat etc.
For Day 1, its Schezwan Sauce to make Schezwan Fried Rice. We mostly end up buying these sauces, however when you make it at home, its healthy and so much so better in terms of taste as well.
Schezwan Sauce
Ingredients Needed:
Dry Red Chillies - 20
Garlic, chopped - 1/4 cup
Ginger - 1 tsp
Soya Sauce - 1/4 tsp
Vinegar - 1 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Tomato Sauce - 1 tbsp
Cooking Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste
How to make the Schezwan Sauce
Wash, remove the stem and soak the dry red chilies in hot water for 10 mins. Drain and grind to a smooth paste.
Heat a non stick pan with oil, add crushed garlic and ginger. Then add the red chili paste. Saute well.
Then add the tomato paste and bring to boil, add salt, pepper powder, soya sauce and vinegar.
Remove and let it cool down.
Store in an air tight container.
